OooOoOOo, I want to get one for my Mom to call me! She still has a rotary phone believe it or not and no long distance, haha!

  8. I use a toll free number every summer while my daughter’s away at camp for a month so she can call me whenever she wants. It’s much cheaper than buying a cell phone every year – not to mention she’s only 10!

My mom doesn’t understand these ‘computer thing-ies’ as she calls it but I got an 800 number to match her own local number and have it route to wherever I am that day so she can always always always get in touch with me. She’s had the same number for, like, 40 years so this works out perfectly!

  13. Will this work for someone in jail? My husband is in jail and it cost to much for collect calls all the timne.

Katrina, it actually depends on the jail he is in. Some jails do allow inmates to call toll free numbers but many block them from doing so. It’s best to check with the jail in question to verify that sort of thing before getting a number.

i’ve heard of people using toll free 800 numbers for adoption but not for grown up kids. That seems pretty dang handy if you ask me.

Hi just happened upon your blog from Google after I typed in, “Little Known Benefits of Getting a Toll-Free Number” or perhaps something similar (can’t quite remember exactly).
Anyhow, I’m happy I found it because your subject material is exactly what I’m searching for
(writing a college paper) and I hope you
don’t mind if I gather some information from here and I will of course credit you as the source.

    Thank you.
