According to the FCC, toll free service has been firmly established as a valuable commodity for businesses. Popularity is on the rise. In fact, major companies like Exxon have opted for an 877 number (877-MY-Exxon). In the past, 800 and 888 pre-fixes have been the most popular choices of subscribers, mostly because of the lack of public awareness about the toll free area codes 877 and 866. But recently, that has all changed. The majority of the public now recognizes all four pre-fixes as toll free. And in response, business owners are quickly taking advantage of the 877 numbers.
