How to Hire the Right Employee
Posted by Tollfreenumber.ORG at July 29th, 2014
Many small businesses don’t have the marketing clout that large corporations do, so when it comes to hiring an employee, it may be difficult to get the word out. Going through the process of hiring someone new is considered costly because of all the time it can take to process paperwork and train a new hire. TollFreeNumber.ORG has personal experience in the hiring process and want to share with you some simple tips to get the right employee!
First off, decide what you need the employee to do. Can they work virtually? How often do you need them? What are you willing to pay? Do they need to have any special attributes like, be able to life heavy objects, stand on their feet all day, etc. Also, do they need any special skills like a specialized degree or experience of some sort? There are lots of questions to ask to narrow down your field.
Once you’ve narrowed down your field and made a list of what the person need to be able to do, you’ve got to get the word out! You can hire a headhunter for very specialized positions but that will cost you… The best way you will find is first advertising on your one website, storefront, Facebook, etc and secondly in known and trusted job mediums like SnagAJob.com, Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com or smaller and less specific mediums like Craigslist.com or PennySaver.com. You will really want to keep your job information specific in order to save your self some time and get the ‘right’ people to apply.
After you’ve put out your feelers, it’s time to start interviewing. If the job is virtual, a phone or Skype interview will work just fine. If it’s local, plan on having a day when you are able to see the applicants in person. When you actually talk to your potential new hires is when you’ll want to take note as to who you jive with the most; but keep a second and third choice in mind as well. You want someone whose personality you like, can get along with, and someone that understands what you’re looking for in them.
